Relocation FAQs

Can I buy a home in the Houston area without visiting in person?

Yes. We tour homes for you by live video, share honest notes on each property and neighborhood, and handle inspections and paperwork locally. Documents can be signed electronically, and many title companies can arrange a mail-away or remote closing, so you can buy with confidence from wherever you are.

What should I know about property taxes in Texas?

Texas has no state income tax, so local services are funded largely through property taxes. Your total rate depends on your city, county, school district and, in many newer communities, a Municipal Utility District (MUD). Homeowners can apply for a homestead exemption through the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District to lower their taxable value. We help you compare total tax rates before you choose a home.

Which school districts serve Sugar Land, Richmond and Rosenberg?

Sugar Land is primarily served by Fort Bend ISD. Richmond homes may be zoned to Fort Bend ISD or Lamar CISD depending on the neighborhood, and most of Rosenberg is served by Lamar CISD. Because zoning can change street by street, we confirm the school assignment for every home you consider.

How long is the commute from Fort Bend County to Houston?

It depends on where you live and work. US-59/I-69, Highway 6, the Grand Parkway, Beltway 8 and the Westpark Tollway connect Fort Bend County to the Galleria, Texas Medical Center, Energy Corridor and Downtown. We help you test real commute times from the neighborhoods you're considering.

What should I know about flooding and insurance in the Houston area?

Flood risk varies by neighborhood and even by street. We help you review FEMA flood zone maps and the Texas seller's disclosure, which asks about past flooding, and we recommend getting insurance quotes early. Flood insurance is separate from a standard homeowners policy.

Will my employer's relocation package let me work with your team?

Many corporate relocation programs let you choose your own agent, and some work through a relocation management company. Check with your HR or relocation contact, and let us know the program details so we can coordinate with them from the start.

Can you help if I'm moving away from the Houston area?

Yes. We sell your current home and connect you with a trusted agent in your new city through the Keller Williams referral network, so you're supported on both ends of your move.
